Emergency Nursing Triage Education Program (ENTEP)

The ENTEP Provider Course is a comprehensive, evidence-based triage education and verification program developed by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Designed to improve triage accuracy, decision-making, and nurse confidence, ENTEP combines independent study, live instruction, and hands-on skills verification to set a new standard in emergency nursing triage education.

This course includes three core components: the Triage Curriculum (pre-course online modules), a 1.5-day live classroom session, and a written and skills-based assessment exam. Upon registration, participants gain access to the Triage Curriculum, which must be completed prior to the first day of the live session. Completion of this pre-course work is mandatory, and participants who have not finished it will not be permitted to continue with the course. Full attendance and active participation during the 1.5-day classroom session are also required.

The 1.5-day classroom session includes interactive instruction, breakout discussions, case-based learning, and skills testing. Full attendance and active participation across both days are required. Following the classroom portion, participants must successfully complete an online written and skills-based assessment to verify their triage knowledge and competency.

Upon successful completion of all course components, participants will receive a 4-year ENTEP verification card and are eligible to earn 22 CNE contact hours (11.25 for the pre-course work and 10.75 for the live session and assessment).

ENTEP is the first and only triage education and verification program developed specifically for emergency nurses. Join the effort to advance triage practice and improve patient outcomes.
